sometimes in tune: about us

My Mom bought me a guitar when I was 15. Previously playing only a 4-string ukelele, I didn’t know what to do with a 6-string instrument. My brilliant solution was to remove the "extra strings" from the guitar and play it that way. By the end of High School, I had added back the 2 strings.

For the next 35 years, I played and sang for my own amusement until we saw Bluegrass fiddle legend Byron Berline at McCabe’s in Santa Monica. Then Frank Javorsek at the Blue Ridge Pickin’ Parlor in Granada Hills encouraged Laura and me to learn this style of music. So glad we did.

It is an extraordinary honor to play our music for an audience.
